Golden Cloth Durability: From Aries to Cancer’s Unbreakable Defense

The Quest for the Most Durable Golden Cloth
Among the legendary 88 Cloths of the Greek zodiac, the twelve Golden Cloths stand at the pinnacle of divine craftsmanship—forged by Hephaestus himself and revered as the ultimate armor. But which of these sacred artifacts truly possesses the greatest durability? To answer this, we must look beyond the influence of Hades’ barrier and examine how each Cloth performed in battle under normal conditions.
Battle Performance of the Golden Cloths
Aries Golden Cloth
The Aries Golden Cloth, though rarely tested due to Mu’s defensive techniques and avoidance of direct hits, revealed a critical weakness during the battle of the Twelve Temples. Shockingly, it was pierced by a mere punch from Deathmask, showcasing its vulnerability when forced to absorb raw physical impact.
Taurus to Pisces Golden Cloths
From Taurus to Pisces, nearly every Golden Cloth demonstrated significant flaws:
- Taurus was easily penetrated by standard attacks and proved weak against sonic and toxic assaults.
- Leo succumbed to Illusion Fists, failing to protect its wearer from mental and physical breakdown.
- Virgo, despite its near-perfect defenses and the Tenbu Horin technique, could not withstand an Athena Exclamation.
- Libra‘s weapons repeatedly cracked under strain and were eventually shattered by Hypnos and Thanatos.
- Scorpio was sent flying by a weakened Galaxian Explosion and later trembled under Hyōga’s freezing attacks.
- Sagittarius suffered the irony of being pierced by its own arrow before meeting destruction at the hands of the Gods.
- Aquarius froze and broke under extreme cold, and Pisces was obliterated in an instant by a Nebula Storm—even at full strength.
The Unmatched Durability of Cancer Golden Cloth
Amidst these tales of fragility, one Cloth stands apart: the glorious Cancer Golden Cloth. Even when faced with Shiryū’s full rage—amplified by the (false) death of Shunrei—it remained utterly unbreakable. Not a single crack appeared on its surface. Deathmask, though morally flawed, was impeccably protected by this resilient armor.
It was only when he removed the Cloth to infiltrate the enemy ranks that Shiryū gained any advantage. Sadly, by the time Deathmask donned it again before the Wailing Wall, the opportunity to truly test its legendary sturdiness had passed. The Cancer Golden Cloth remains, in the eyes of many, the most durable of all—a shield that never broke, even when others shattered.
